Kate Gosselin, of TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8, told the Today show Thursday she was "very hesitant to believe any of the rumors" concerning her husband Jon's alleged three-month affair with a 23-year-old third-grade teacher Deanna Hummel.

Kate -- who appeared alone without her Jon, who has publicly denied the allegations -- said the rumors are damaging  to the couple's eight children.

On Wednesday, RadarOnline.com spoke exclusively with David Reitnauer, an eyewitness who said he saw Jon, as recently as last month, making out passionately with Hummel at Legends, the Pennsylvania bar their courtship allegedly blossomed at.

"I'm not going to sit here and say I enjoy it,"  Kate  said of the rumors. "I tend to be very thick-skinned, but it's hurtful for the sake of my children looking through their eyes seeing the things that are out there is absolutely not a bit enjoyable."

Although he did not appear on The Today Show, Jon released a statement to the show denying reports of an affair, and apologized to his family for the unwanted publicity.

Therapist Dr. Jamie Turndorf -- who has not treated the Gosselins -- Wednesday discussed what negative impact these developments might have on the couple's eight children in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com.

"Kids tend to blame themselves," he said. "Kids, they way their brains work they think they're the center of the universe, so whatever happens they think is their fault. If my parents don't get along they think it's their fault. They think they're not good enough kids and they're not keeping their parents together. It's irrational, but it's what kids

think."

He added that, if the relationship is irreconcilable, "staying together and fighting is terrible for the kids."
