A senior New York law enforcement official tells RadarOnline.com exclusively that Kiefer Sutherland will likely surrender "as early as tomorrow," in New York City on a charge of third-degree assault.

Sutherland is likely to show up at the First Precinct.

It is unlikely that Kiefer will be detained for an arraignment at Manhattan Criminal Court. Rather, he would likely get what is called a desk appearance ticket at the precinct and then be allowed to leave.

Police have launched an investigation after the "24" star was accused of head-butting a fashion designer at a swanky New York party on Tuesday night.

Sutherland reportedly flew into a rage after Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough knocked into actress Brooke Shields at the Met Costume Institute Gala.

Sutherland is said to have confronted the catwalk mogul and told him to apologize to the star. He is then alleged to have head-butted McCollough in the face, injuring his nose.
