Suspected wife-killer Drew Peterson could finally be convicted using evidence from his dead wife, according to the prosecutor trying to put America’s most hated man behind bars.

Peterson  --  a former police sergeant from suburban Chicago, IL --  was arrested Thursday and charged with murdering  his third wife Kathleen Savio, who was found  drowned in an empty bathtub in 2004.

At the time, Savio's death was ruled an accident.  But following the  mysterious disappearance of his  fourth wife, Stacy Peterson,  in  October of  2007,  police exhumed Savio’s body for forensic examinations.

After examining forensic evidence, Illinois State Attorney James Glasgow believes that Savio’s murder was  a homicide staged to look like an accident.

Following her exhumation, a pathologist also ruled that Savio – who had made multiple calls to police claiming Peterson had beat her – had died as the result of a homicide.

Glasgow says prosecutors working on the case would also seek statements made by Savio herself, essentially allowing her to ‘testify from beyond the grave’.

He added: “We moved when we felt the time was appropriate, and we're very confident in our case.”

Stacy Peterson hasn't been seen since she vanished in 2007. Drew Peterson  has repeatedly claims she left him for another man. Stacy's family fears she is dead, and that her body will never be found.

Rev.  Neil Schori, a Pastor at Stacy's church, claimed that Stacy had told him that Peterson killed Savio, and had made it look like an accident while forcing her to give him an alibi.

He was married to his first wife, Carol Brown, from 1974 to 1980, but she divorced him after claiming that he had cheated on her.

Peterson’s second wife, Vicki Connolly, also alleged a history of violence against her during their 10 year marriage.

Since being linked with the disappearance of his wives the ex-cop has flaunted his freedom with absurd stunts involving dating contests, Nevada brothels and TV appearances with his new 24-year-old fiancee Christina Raines.
