Deal or No Deal Ditches Hollywood for Connecticut

It’s a deal! The syndicated daytime version of game show Deal or No Deal is moving production to Waterford, Connecticut. The move is a boon for the state—the program is expected to bring dozens of jobs (and millions of dollars) to the Connecticut economy when it arrives this summer.

Connecticut Governor M. Jodie Rell responded to the news in a statement released on Friday, saying “I’ll never say ‘No deal’ when there’s a real shot at growing jobs and improving the economic outlook for our state.”

So what’s the real reason for the relocation? Connecticut has a digital media and film production tax credit that will save NBC a bundle.

Looks like in the current economic climate, even the minds behind the million-dollar briefcases at Deal or no Deal are tightening their purse strings.
