Controversial Alex Rodriguez Book Hits Stores Monday

Yankee Stadium clubhouse attendants aren't the only ones making a living off A-Rod's dirty laundry.

A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez, a book that makes some eyebrow-raising claims against the baseball slugger, goes on sale Monday.

The book, written by Sports Illustrated writer Selena Roberts, makes claims that the three-time American League MVP used steroids as far back as high school, has led a sordid sex life despite taking on the public persona of a family man and is motivated by severe abandonment issues stemming from his father's premature departure from his life as a child.

In one of the juicer tidbits, Roberts said that a player told her he once saw Rodriguez and former Yankee teammate Kevin Brown with "ampoules of HGH in their possession at Yankee Stadium."

In spite of all the mudslinging, Roberts said she sees the third basemen as "a pretty tenderhearted person."

"I do think there's a very good Alex in there," she told the AP. "I think the good Alex has a very good shot at winning. I think the good Alex is there for all of us to see for the next nine years."
