The case of Chris Brown goes back to court in Los Angeles Thursday morning.

Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, is expected to ask a judge for permission to gain access to LAPD personnel records so that he can find out who leaked a photograph of a battered and bruised Rihanna to the media.

Also during the hearing, a judge will set a preliminary hearing date for Brown. At that time, the judge will rule if there is enough evidence to bound the R&B singer over for trial.

Brown, 20, is not expected to be present at Thursday's hearing, officials said.

Brown is charged with threatening and beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna in Los Angeles this past February.

Meanwhile, a day after a video of Brown was posted on YouTube in which he claims he's no monster, the singer was sued by a paparazzo Wednesday, who said the singer's bodyguards beat him up outside a Southern California gym after he snapped a shot of the vocalist.

"This is a specious and frivolous lawsuit by one of the paparazzi seeking publicity and a payday," Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, said in a statement. "He's done this before and lost. We will vigorously defend against this."(Photo: Reuters)
