The new restaurant, Ketchup, on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood, looks like a classy diner, but serves upscale comfort food about as far away from a 50’s diner as you can get. Take the lowly hot dog. At Ketchup, the standard hot dog is made of Kobe beef; the macaroni and cheese ($8)  is lightly sprinkled with white truffles and generous chunks of Dungeness grab, and Shake-n-Bake chicken consists of pistachio-crusted chicken breast, raspberry-Dijon sauce, garlic mash, and sautéed baby vegetables . ($15.00)

Craving a Sloppy Joe? Here, their version, called “Slow On Sunday Morning (Leading Men)” is made with Kobe beef and fresh cheddar cheese and comes with a side of their not-to-miss Ketchup fries. ($19.)  And don’t miss the 3 Some --  three different kinds of fries and 5 different ketchups.

No surprise that the restaurant is such a smash,, when you realize that the group behind the trendy restaurant launched the uber-popular Dolce. Scenesters and celebrities flocked to the sleek red and white restaurant for the solid food and the spectacular views of the Hollywood Hills. (It didn’t hurt that Ketchup has been featured on the popular MTV show, “The Hills”.)   So, you’re in the mode for some gourmet versions of childhood favorites, including “Party Starter Martinis” which  incorporate beverages like Yoo-Hoo, Kool-Aid and Sunny Delight, this is the place.
