Sure... Quentin Tarantino can direct a film, but can he direct the singers competing on American Idol?

Tarantino  --who sat in as a guest judge on Idol five years ago --came back to the show to mentor the remaining seven singers on a night when all the songs were associated with the movies.

Meanwhile, the show announced that, due to episodes running too long, each performer would only receive feedback from two of the four judges.

"We're working in teams tonight, so we make it in on time," host Ryan Seacrest said of the adjustments.

The show had to change its judging format, Simon Cowell joked, because Paula Abdul and Kara Dioguardi talked too much last week.
