EXCLUSIVE: Miss California's Granny Comes Out Swinging: "I Never Knew There Were So Many Gays Out There!"

Miss California Carrie Prejean is under attack for her anti-gay marriage statement at the Miss USA pageant and she's just found one feisty ally - her 89-year-old grandmother!
Jeanette Coppola, speaking exclusively to RadarOnline.com at her mobile home near San Diego, came out swinging against Carrie's critics and in a statement that shows she's clearly not from an era of tolerance, she said:"I never knew there were so many gays out there!"

But grandma didn't stop there. She had some choice words for blogger Perez Hilton, whose question about gay marriage opened the door to the controversy.
"I don't know why that gay guy Perez was even judging a contest with a bunch of girls. That doesn't make any sense. He should be judging a Chippendale's contest," Jeanette told RadarOnline.com.
Ok, so grandma is not afraid to speak her mind in the middle of a controversy that has sparked sharp rhetoric on both sides of the issue!

Jeanette, who says she lives in a mobile home near San Diego, also says that Carrie is not backing down from her anti-gay marriage remarks. She told RadarOnline.com: "She told me she is happy with what she said and that it was meant to be. It was a stupid question."
While Carrie admitted that her stance was at odds with the beliefs of her sister Christy, Jeanette said: "Her sister Christy is not gay, she just has her own mindset. But she's not gay, we just feel sorry for them.
Meanwhile, Perez Hilton responded to grandma’s comments, telling RadarOnline.com: "Dear Jeanette, I was judging that contest because I am an American. I am a gay American. I am a Latino American. And I am an American who knows a thing or two about women in the spotlight. I know it's not to your liking, but the judging panel was filled with a lot of diversity: men, women, gay, straight, black and white. We all decided that your granddaughter was not the best candidate for Miss USA. I am praying for her and for you, Jeanette. Next time you go to Chippendale's, give me a call! xoxo Perez".
