T.I. won't be popping bottles all night for at least 366 days, as a judge Friday sentenced the 28-year-old rapper to a year and a day in prison in connection with weapons charges he pleaded guilty to last year.
"Today I would like to say thank you to some, and apologize to all," the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, told the judge at the hearing.
The charges (that he tried to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers) could have landed the successful hip-hip maestro in custody for a maximum of 10 years, until he pleaded guilty and cut a deal that included extended community service. The rapper, to date, has completed about 1,000 hours with an estimated 470 remaining.
