Terrence Howard's Old Mug Shot

For the first time, we're seeing an old mug shot of actor Terrence Howard, the star of such movies as Hustle and Flow and Crash.

According to thesmokinggun.com, Howard was arrested by Pennsylvania cops in September 2001 for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife.

Howard subsequently pleaded guilty in 2002 to disorderly conduct.

Thesmokinggun.com says Howard's arrest may explain his comments in wake of the Chris Brown/Rihanna story.

After Brown's arrest for allegedly assaulting Rihanna, Howard came to Brown's defense, saying "It's just life, man. Chris is a great guy. He'll be alright and Rihanna knows he loves her, you know? They'll be alright."

Howard later apologized for his remarks.
