Robert Plant and Alison Krauss show off their Grammy awards Robert Plant and Alison Krauss won huge last night at the 51st annual Grammy Awards at Los Angeles' Staples Center. They snagged five trophies including album of the year for Raising Sand and record of the year for Please Read The Letter.

"We are thrilled and very grateful to everybody who is excited for us," Krauss said later.

"In the old days we would have called this selling out," Plant -- formerly of the legendary Led Zeppelin remarked. "But it's a good way to spend a Sunday."

Lil Wayne earned rap album of the year with Tha Carter III and best rap solo performance for "A Milli," among other awards.

Coldplay took him song of the year for "Viva La Vida."

A stunning upset was scored by Adele who beat the favored Jonas Brothers for best new artist. She also won for best female pop vocal performance for "Chasing Pavements."

Other winners included:

-Best R&B album: Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Hudson-Best country performance by a duo or group with vocals: "Say," Sugarland -Best rock album: Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, Coldplay -Best male pop vocal: "Say," John Mayer
