Jennifer Hudson wasn't the one who had sadly departed family on her mind last night.

When George Carlin's It's Bad For Ya won the Grammy for Best Comedy Album, it was accepted by his daughter Kelly Carlin-McCall.

With a smile and a tear, she said she would take better care of the award than the one her dad won in 1972. She said that "in a chemically-induced altered state (he) took it apart, to point that the Academy had to send him a new one."

Carlin died last June at the age of 71.

The Grammy wasn't his only posthumous award. Just 4 days before his death, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. named Carlin the recipient of its 2008 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The award was presented on November 10.
