In the January 5 issue of The National Enquirer, Judy Philbin, the wife of Regis‘s estranged son Danny, wrote that her husband has been unable to find employment anywhere near his Cathedral City, California home — he is a public affairs professional — and that she recently lost her job as a certified nurse assistant. Upon reading the article, Regis immediately promised to take care of the couple’s mounting financial problems.

“Regis said, ‘I had no idea things were so bad until I read the Enquirer story. Danny knows I love him. Why didn’t he just call me?'”
