Eminem had his say in his own memoir, released last month, The Way I Am. Now, it's mom Debbie Nelson's turn.

In her new book My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem: Setting the Record Straight, Nelson writes about why her son attacked her in his songs, such as Cleanin' Out My Closet.

"When he went negative and had to be different and was very creative, he thought, 'I'll just attack mom because if I attack Kim's (his former wife's) family they'll go after me and sue me," said Nelson. "But if I attack my mother, it'll be different.' We were all surprised on that bill."

She also deals with the $10 million dollar lawsuit she had against her son for his lyrics and comments to the media.

"I did not mean to sue my son for defamation. I just wanted to stop my home being repossessed and clear up the financial problems that had been caused."

Nelson, who at the moment has no relationship with the rapper -- whose real name is Marshall Mathers III -- is unconcerned about what her son will think of the book.

"If anything, it blows him up," said Nelson. "It shows I'm a very proud mother."
