It’s been 45 years since Jane Fonda last appeared on the Great White Way, starring in Strange Interlude in 1963. Early next year the superstar will return to the boards in the play 33 Variations.
Written and directed by Moises Kaufman, it’s about Ludwig van Beethoven’s obsession with a waltz and a contemporary musical historian (Fonda) who seeks to learn the secret of that obsession.
“I am very excited about being in Moises’ new play,” the 70 year-old Fonda told Reuters. “I can’t wait to get back on stage with him in this role that I understand so well.”
