When Hillary Gave Up

I should have known it was over when I saw the pizzas. As RadarOnline.com noted, there were hundreds of boxes of Domino's Pizza at Hillary Clinton's very last campaign event ever in New York City on Tuesday night. That's weird, I thought. Why is this famously over-cautious and control-freaky campaign serving people food (or "food") from a company founded by a right-wing freak—a man who still has a quarter-stake in the company—whose donations were 100 percent Republican, who supported Operation Rescue? A company that has been, as well, more recently, under fire for terrible labor practices in the UK, and that actually had a case only two years ago go to the U.S. Supreme Court, brought by a black entrepreneur, claiming a breach of contract regarding a Domino's franchising agent who said she didn't want to deal with "you people"? And, as well, a lawsuit brought two years ago in Brooklyn regarding fair labor practices—that was just ended this week, an action in which pizza delivery drivers were granted the right to organize, despite company opposition, for fair pay and collective action? The pizza could have only been there because Camp Hillary just didn't care any more. And now it is officially ended.
