PEN STATION Mary Louise Parker Lionsgate, a high-powered independent film and television studio, joined the likes of the Weinstein Co. and David Letterman's Worldwide Pants on Thursday, signing an interim agreement with the striking Writer's Guild.

The studio produces Showtime's popular comedy/Mary Louise Parker vehicle Weeds as well as the critically acclaimed AMC drama Mad Men, and the deal marked the strike's first victory into the important (and dearly missed) realm of the scripted prime-time series.

"Lionsgate is considered a leader in the industry and its signing an interim agreement again confirms that it is possible for writers to be compensated fairly and respectfully for their work and for companies to operate profitably," said WGA Good Witch of the West Patric M. Verrone and WGA Good Witch of the East Michael Winship.

Additionally, for the nerds among us, comic book and movie makers Marvel Entertainment also made a deal with the WGA, allowing writers to resume working on Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, and The Avengers.
