HOT COCO Katharine Hepburn as Chanel in 1969 play "Coco"Hollywood loves a biopic, and now, it seems, so does the fashion world! Blame Project Runway and ANTM—there are currently four fashion biopics in the hopper, three of which focus on the life of Coco Chanel. So far, two Cocos have been cast: The gamine Audrey Tatou will play the young Chanel in a movie directed by Anne Fontaine, and Marina Hands will star as an older version of the designer in Coco & Igor, a romance about the atelier and violinist Igor Stravinsky. Set to direct that film is William Friedkin, the man behind The Exorcist and, most recently, the gory Bug. An unexpected match, but then when aren't fashion personalities kind of horrifying?
Finally, there's Brian Grazer's project about the life of punk seamstress Vivienne Westwood. On Wednesday, British Vogue updated our earlier report on the project. No actress has yet been tapped to play the Queen of Tartan, but whoever lands the role is going to get very comfortable with leather play, whips, mullets, and, presumably, whipping mullets.
Remember the good old days, when playing retarded was good enough for an Oscar?
