Tribeca Takes Manhattan!

AN INCONVENIENT LECTURE Gore praises Bon Jovi for his recycled career

The Tribeca film festival kicked off last night in New York, and two events, the SOS: Short Film Program (plus after-party) and Vanity Fair's Tribeca soiree, drew everyone from dapper Bobby De Niro and green scenester Al Gore to PAs in cargo pants and MTV's Gideon Yago in gum-stained dungarees.

At the SOS fete, Martin Scorsese, Josh Lucas, Christopher Walken, and others provided quick interludes between short flicks. When he wasn't having his ear chewed off by Gore, Jon Bon Jovi did his version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and then his own "Living on a Prayer," giving the otherwise classy event a distinct karaoke vibe.

Then there's Jimmy Fallon. Fresh from serving as stand-up fodder for Bill Clinton at this week's Food Bank event, he subjected attendees to what one guest described as forced on-stage banter with De Niro. At one point Fallon rattled off jokey movie titles, riffing on De Niro's Meet the Fockers. "When he said 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Fockers,' it was just obnoxious," said a witness.

At the SOS after-party, held at the majestic Winter Garden in the World Financial Center, guests sipped ginger-infused martinis and listened to Amy Winehouse singles about rehab. Bon Jovi rolled quickly into the curtained VIP area with a half-dozen or more friends in tow, while Gore's party of six, flanked by a serious Secret Service detail, stopped to greet filmmakers.
