Nick Denton Starves Media Elite At Friends Party

TWO PEOPLE WHO GET PAID FOR ACTING LIKE INSUFFERABLE TWITS Pegg, Young Wednesday night, at the Soho House in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, Gawker overlord Nick Denton hosted a party for fellow British ex-pat Toby Young, whose book about life as a fuck-up at Vanity Fair, How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, is slated to come to life on the big screen this Friday. (Early reviews are mixed.) Stars Simon Pegg (Toby Young) and Kirsten Dunst (Young's love interest) were both there, as were writers/reporters from almost every single media outlet in New York City. (New York magazine, the Observer, the New Yorker, the New York Times, Women's Wear Daily, and, uh, Nonsociety were all present.) Predictably, Graydon Carter, whose Vanity Fair is portrayed by Young as a place where celebrity publicists have more sway over the magazine's day-to-day operations than do editors, was not.
On the non-media end, Tom Arnold was in the house! He's an old pal of junkie memoirist David Carr's. He also evidently has a big crush on the last person anyone should have a big crush on. (Dying to know? Read on!)
