The Roger Clemens Steroid Scandal: A Rundown

IN A PICKLE Clemens The he-said, he-said argument between Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens and his former trainer Brian McNamee over whether the latter injected the former with steroids will come to a head this Wednesday when the two testify at a hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. We're sure it'll be an impartial, totally objective attempt to extract some kernel of truth from this whole sordid mess; after all, it's not like Clemens has already made nice with nearly half of the committee's 41 congressional members, some of who have been spotted openly asking for his autograph.
To recap, McNamee, who first outed Clemens in the Mitchell Report, is claiming that he injected the Rocket at least 16 times with steroids and human growth hormone between 1998 and 2001—a claim, of course, which Clemens denies. On Friday, McNamee also announced that he'd injected Clemens' wife, Debbie, with human growth hormone to help her get into shape for a spread in the 2003 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
