Times' Weddings Section Tangled in Ivy

HIGH BROW VOWS Bobby Kennedy ('74) and wedding guests, 02138
The folks over at Harvard vanity mag 02138 want you to know that the school's still king of the New York Times's wedding announcement circle jerk.
It might be no surprise to the section's avid readers that a disproportionate number of the couples featured are Ivy League grads. But writer Jody Kelman spent a worrying amount of time tabulating the 2006 announcements to prove that "one out of every six couplings memorialized by the paper involved a Harvard bride or groom—or, yes, both." Kelman then goes on to prove that her time in Cambridge wasn't for naught. She's really good at figurin'.
Of course, there's always the theory that Harvard kids are just better at following directions. The edict that "Couples posing for pictures should arrange themselves with their eyebrows on exactly the same level and with their heads fairly close together ... in a horizontal format" may well befuddle kids from—shudder—state schools.
More of Kelman's in-depth analysis after the jump!
