Contrary to what you may have been told, Ruff Ryder Records—the hip-hop label that launched DMX and Eve—still exists and is apparently trying to branch out into the furrier racket. Sadly, plans for synergistic corporate growth have been threatened by CEO Darrin Dean's recent bust for one-and-a-half kilos of cocaine behind a trapdoor in the back of his SUV along with a loaded, unregistered .45 caliber handgun.
In other news from the department of bad boy hip-hop execs and controlled substances, one former TVT Records captain supposedly got quite a surprise when he was informed that the label's mail room had a package for him, reportedly containing 20 pounds of "high quality" marijuana. After the police were called in, one cop (clearly a student of the free-market principles of Adam Smith) asked the exec, "Why the hell did you call us? You should have kept it for yourself or sold it to one of your artists!"
Aw, officer ... you know these rappers!
