we first heard about Pandamonium NYC, a "costumed, roving, street party" with FREE BEER, our initial reaction was, "Hey, this is probably the perfect venue for the hipster machete gang killers to strike again!" Well, there were no stabbings, but things did get a little hairy out in Williamsburg. Depending on who you believe, the hundreds of people who took part in the festivities were either peacefully minding their business, chewing bamboo and what not, before being unjustly targeted by the bike-checking NYPD, or the pandas incurred the wrath of the police only after not-so-peacefully deciding it would be a good idea to start structure fires in trash cans and trash newsstands. Anyway, after some pandas started flinging beer cans and repurposing construction road blocks to prevent the cops from breaking things up, two police helicopters had to be called in to track down renegade party pandas. It was just like the WTO protests, except over something totally inane!
