Google Turns Over Private Data in Brazilian Perv Hunt

Orkut, Google's social networking site, just turned over 3,261 files containing personal data to a Brazilian senate commission. Authorities there have received about 50,000 allegations of pedophilia in recent years, and Orkut is apparently where pervs go to, you know, chillax. The commission is investigating claims that underage pics were posted in password-protected photo albums on the site.
Orkut has an estimated 27 million users (Facebook has an estimated 70 million), mostly in Brazil, and is rumored to get more hits than Google Search. One of the Brazilian investigators, Demostenes Torres, said the commission expects to incriminate 200 pedophiles with the use of the Google data. In an unfortunately worded comment, Torres added, "If we manage to do this, it will be a hard blow against pedophiles." AFP via Breitbart
