DID THEY DO THE 'I DO'? Spears, Ghalib (Photo: Getty Images) Today, the New York Daily News rehashes Star magazine's theory that former singer Britney Spears married British boyfriend/paparazzo Adnan Ghalib during a day trip to Mexico about a month ago. Not that such an incident would have any legal repercussions stateside—Ghalib is still technically married to his first wife, AzLynn Berry, so any matrimonial agreement brokered between him and Spears would be pretty much be dead on arrival. Still, Star claims, Britney has given Adnan $250,000 to give to Berry to rush the divorce proceedings along.

Meanwhile, the Daily News' Ben Widdicombe goes so far as to call the wedding "the only logical explanation" for the Mexican jaunt. There is just one piece of the puzzle that doesn't make sense. At the time of the vacation, the photo agency Finalpixx billed itself as "the first and only source" for the Spears/Ghalib Mexico photos, posting pics of the lovebirds doing such couple-y things as licking whipped cream off of each others' fingers at a Starbucks in Baja. Finalpixx's access wasn't some fluke—it's Ghalib's agency. They might deny it, but how else did they land at the right place at the right time if Ghalib didn't sell them exclusive rights to the photos—or at least tip off their photographers as to the couple's whereabouts?

Are we really to expect that someone as shameless as Ghalib would orchestrate a shotgun wedding to a mentally unstable pop icon in Mexico and not attempt to benefit monetarily from doing so? Particularly since he knew that his extant marriage to Berry would render his one to Spears null and void? Just asking!
