YOU PROBABLY COULDN'T GET AWAY WITH THIS ONE EITHER Card The godless communists at Starbucks want to prevent you from turning your coffee card into some kind of wacky tribute to non-interventionist fiscal policies. Seems some dude from an economic institute tried to customize his gift certificate with the phrase "Laissez Faire," but that didn't wash with the anti-Americano crowd at the coffee chain: They turned him down. Meanwhile, known hippie slogans like "People Not Profits" and "Si Se Puede" are completely acceptable. It's an outrage, right? The company gave a namby-pamby liberal explanation that the words in question may have been rejected for being too political, but could not explain how lefty sentiments supporting the right to organize were somehow any less acceptable than a phrase symbolizing a resistance to government intervention in financial matters. Either it's just the latest example of big corporations going out of their way to stifle any form of thought that doesn't fit into their narrow ideological goal of converting everyone to socialism, or maybe they just realized the whole idea is dead anyway.
