NERD PARTY CNN's blogfest In an effort to shore up its coverage of the upcoming midterm elections, the LA Times has reported that CNN will host its first-ever "E-lection Nite Blog Party." Put another way, The Most Trusted Name in News will resort to the least trusted source of journalism—bloggers—for commentary on one of the most important nights in recent political history.

CNN has booked a space in Washington, D.C., (free wireless and Pirate's Booty!) and invited two dozen bloggers to post. To further the navel-gazing, CNN plans to station two safety patrols hall monitors reporters in the operation center to report live on the ... live ... blogging. ("Wolf, it appears ThinkProgress is reaching down RedState's, and ... yes, Wolf ... it's a righteous wedgie!"). Those who subscribe to CNN Pipeline—assuming someone out there subscribes to CNN Pipeline—will be able cut the TV out altogether and watch the riveting live feed of the Blog Party on an actual computer.
