PASS THE MIKE Former Republican Bloomberg

  • Billionaire and potential '08 presidential wild card candidate Michael Bloomberg, elected as a Republican twice as NYC mayor, has changed his voter registration as unaffiliated with any political party. From his statement: "Any successful elected executive knows that real results are more important than partisan battles and that good ideas should take precedence over rigid adherence to any particular political ideology."

UPDATE: Matthew Walter, communications director for the New York Republican State Committee says: "Mayor Bloomberg has done an excellent job as mayor of New York City, and we have enjoyed working with him to accomplish many beneficial things for the people of New York. We look forward to continuing that positive relationship."
