Anti-Scientologists Warm Up for February 10

IT WAS EITHER THIS OR ANOTHER PICTURE OF TOM CRUISE Book Small protests against Scientology mounted in Florida, Southern California, and abroad over the weekend. The little anti-L.-Ron soirees were warm-ups for this coming weekend's big anti-Scientology bash on February 10, as called for by Internet-based group Anonymous.

In Orlando, 100 or so gathered outside the Scientology Center, holding signs that read "Knowledge is Free" and "Honk if you hate Scientology." Across the pond, some half-a-dozen protesters handed out "Scientology Sucks" pamphlets to Saturday shoppers in Manchester, England.

Across the country, UC Santa Barbara students took a break from the bong and tanning bed to protest the cult/religion as well. Protesters wore masks to bring a focus on their message (and protect their identity from the Thetans) and also held up signs with the trusty "Honk if you hate Scientology" slogan. The UCSB protest was created by a first-year physics major on Facebook. After the jump, some of the most amusingly named anti-Scientology groups online.
