To go down this road is to sound like, or become, a wingnut, but let's just say the case against U.S. government anthrax specialist Bruce Ivins, who conveniently killed himself on July 29, is more than a little weird. After his death, which occurred just as he was going to be facing charges after a six-year investigation (in which Ivins had assisted) of the anthrax-by-mail attacks back in 2001, the FBI released lots of emails that made him look like a loon, and the US Attorneys Office claimed he was the "sole culprit" of the terror campaign. Which, maybe he was! Except we don't really know why! So now they have found that a hair sample from one of the anthrax-mailers does not match Ivins. Likewise, no anthrax was ever found in his own home or car. This is going to make us all crazy because we are never going to know the truth. In mid-September there is going to be both a Senate and a House hearing and the FBI is supposed to lay out their case but you know they won't really and then we will all be in the tinfoil hat brigade, which sucks.
