< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence The John McCain-Sarah Palin Rumor
STUCK TOGETHER McCain, Palin Of course, like the Biden rumor, it's ridiculous. The McCain team is stuck with Palin. At this point there are enough questions about John McCain's judgment and recklessness that the last thing the campaign wants to prove to the world is that its candidate made an impulsive decision that backfired badly. We've seen how unwilling McCain is to admit even minor mistakes; you think he's going to essentially concede that he was wrong on the biggest decision he's made in the race thus far? More importantly, the majority of McCain's base identifies much more closely with Palin than they do with the nominee. Taking her off the ticket would keep those people home on election day, which not only hurts McCain but also fellow Republicans down ballot. Finally, even though Palin is clearly unprepared to be vice president of the United States, she's more than qualified to do the job of the vice presidential nominee, i.e., to tear down the other party's presidential candidate. If she can turn most of the focus of Thursday's debate to Barack Obama's record rather than her own, a lot of the heat and chatter about how woefully inadequate she is for the office will dissipate. And if none of that happens and she's still a drag on the team, hey, she can spend most her time planning for her daughter's wedding. That'll keep her busy (and away from the press) for a while. But seriously? She's not going anywhere. Relax. Unless you're Tina Fey, in which case you still got a few weeks of work to do. Obama finally came out and addressed the Biden rumours this weekend. Biden's on the Obama ticket to stay. Posted by: Sai1or on September 29, 2008 10:54 AM There are already 'talks' about how Palin's family misses her being around. If/when she tanks the debate she will remove herself from the race with the most worthy of all callings: 'being a mother'. McCain's card up his sleeve is not Romney: Ladies and Gentleman, Mr. Joe Lieberman. Posted by: meljuwil on September 29, 2008 11:58 AM I agree, Biden and Palin are on the ticket as VP's and no changes will be made. I don'r know if Biden is a drawing crowd but I do know that Palin draws crowds for McCain. She drew 60,000 in Florida alone and she will continut to do so in other states. I believe that McCain made a brilliant choice regardless of all the comments against her and Biden is a good choice for Obama however I would rather he had picked Hillary. But we should respect their choices and go on with the campaign. All four candidates are respectful and are committed to their families and that's what makes a good president and vice president. No matter what candidate wins the white house we should respect that choice and move on because both Obama or McCain will get the job done. Posted by: Mariann Pepitone on September 29, 2008 11:59 AM I have not seen my comment. Posted by: Mariann Pepitone on September 29, 2008 12:03 PM Advertisement McCain cannot choose Lieberman because he is for abortion and McCain will lose all the christian voters. The christians are already backing McCain and he was already warned by them. McCain is pro-life and that's what the christians want for a president. And McCain was seeking a VP that had the same values as he has. Posted by: Mariann Pepitone on September 29, 2008 12:08 PM Good one Meljuwil, The only thing scarier than a woman in power for most Democrats is their 2000 Vice Presidential candidate. So was Lieberman just vetted poorly, or was he a Manchurian Candidate? Posted by: Sai1or on September 29, 2008 12:17 PM Yes yes Sai10r...Democrats, the party of trollopy slut haters.
