< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Everyone Interesting Died This Weekend• Bernie Mac, raunchy standup turned less-raunchy sitcom star, took us by surprise and up and died this weekend—right after last week, when his publicist said that he was in good health and responding well to treatment for pneumonia. This marks the last time we will ever believe a publicist, even though we didn't really before. • Isaac Hayes, Scientologist and South Park star, soul legend, and composer of one of the greatest opening themes ever, was found by family at home in Memphis "lying unconscious next to a running treadmill in his basement around 1 p.m." And now we will never exercise again. • Lester Young's little brother, Lee Young, drummer and pioneering music executive, has died at the ripe old age of 94, and now we know the benefits of not drinking. 94! Yes, please. • American hero Anthony Russo, who went on trial for treason after assisting in the leaking of the Pentagon Papers to the press, has died of causes unknown at the age of 71. Should we even go on today? Whew. Thank goodness there's nothing in there about bong hits. Posted by: Hez on August 11, 2008 9:22 PM Advertisement |
