Please Say Goodbye To Momentary Staffer Moe Tkacik

A few moments ago I received an e-mail from Maureen "Moe" Tkacik, informing me that she needed to rescind her previous acceptance of Radaronline's Senior Writer position. Apparently Gawker Media impresario Nick Denton, panicked at the thought of losing her (for good reason!), made her a rather attractive offer that will move her over to the company's flagship site and provide her with more creative freedom and fewer of the onerous tasks she is currently responsible for at Jezebel.

It is, on every level, a disappointment.

I apologize to those readers who felt the same amount of excitement I did about bringing Moe aboard; rest assured we will be searching for a suitable replacement who brings the same wide-ranging skills and off-center analysis to fill the position. And I apologize to the small segment of Manhattan media watchers who will now be forced to endure a one-day cycle of "what happened" stories.

I wish Moe only the best; this wouldn't be so hard to take if she weren't so talented, and I'm jealous of her soon-to-be co-workers at Gawker who will be the beneficiaries of her wisdom. And, frankly, I do somewhat understand her reluctance to leave; I wouldn't want to work with me either. In any event, we will continue our efforts to strengthen your reading experience here at Radaronline. Be patient with the few extra bear rub videos we wind up posting in the interim.
