A Conversation With Julia Allison

Julia Allison's relentless march toward B-list mediocrity proceeds apace. Here she is in conversation with Wired EIC Chris Anderson, who was manipulated by the calculating Allison into making her his magazine's covergirl. (Or was he? WHO IS MANIPULATING WHO?) Anyway, your takeaway:

• Her biggest fans come from the coveted 'girls who grew up watching Sex and the City' demographic.

• When she mentions a product on her blog, people go out and buy it, just like they do with actual celebrities.

When she was named the third most-hated person on the Internet, it was because people were laughing with her, not at her.

• Merit and talent are no longer prerequisites for fame, even of the micro sort. In fact, they might be impediments.

That last bit is not in the interview, but, come on, its very existence proves the point, right?

Hooray! You win, Radar!
If this comment actually appears online (they never have before-- just sayin), I'm yours, forever!

Luv ya! -xoxo

One more thing:

"• Merit and talent are no longer prerequisites for fame, even of the micro sort. In fact, they might be impediments."

Can I just say: WORD.

don't know why sounding like a douchebag would give her pause at this point.

the last part most valid rationale for this.

even gawker isn't going to bother with this.

"even gawker isn't going to bother with this."

Yah, but that's just cuz Gawker is like, totally bi-polar.
