Kim Cattrall: "Stop Asking Me About SJP, We're Fine, Goddamn It!"

Sex and the City saturation coverage is continuing apace, some will be glad to hear. And with the the film's box office success castrating any arguments of why the movie was needed, many still wonder what it was that caused more than four years to pass before bringing the long-defunct series to the faded highlights of its rabid fans. Steppin' Out's Chaunce Hayden cornered well-worn libidinal Kim Cattrall for next week's issue, in hopes of drawing out some answers of the rumored rift between the actress and the show's headliner, Sarah Jessica Parker. And by her tone, she just may be ready to break, whether those rumors are true or, as she insists, they are not.

When asked if the tabloid line that it was, in fact, the stars' strained relations that delayed the films' release, Cattrall was adamant:

No. Sarah and I are colleagues. We're comrades. We enjoy working with one another. It's just juicy gossip in cyberspace. It just bores me beyond belief to even give air to it. I mean we're adult women who live in the world. I mean are we perfect Kewpie Dolls? No. Are we colleagues who are passionate about our work? Yes. Are we going to let things slide? No. Both of us have had to address this. It's like some sort of press dog with a bone. I put it to misogynist. I think a lot of men don't like to see women getting along and being powerful and successful.... Do we get along all the time? Most of the time we do. But we're also human beings and we're sharing a very intimate space.... So it's dudes' fault? Is that, Hayden wonders, why male reviewers disliked the film and female ones enjoyed it?
Again, nothing is for everybody. (Laughs) This isn't a Wal-Mart product! [Now we're just splitting hairs.—Ed.] The film is just pure entertainment. You might even find some women out there who don't like the film.... If somebody doesn't want to come along for the ride, than hey, don't get on the bus. We're not choosing the next president of the United States. Besides, we didn't make the film for reviewers.
Not even you women ones!
