Tina Brown to Partner with Barry Diller on News Aggregation Site

Former Vanity Fair and New Yorker editor Tina Brown has more than her much-ballyhooed bio of Bill and Hillary Clinton coming down the pipeline: Radar has learned that the erstwhile "Queen of Buzz" is partnering with InterActiveCorp honcho Barry Diller to launch her own news aggregator website.

The site, Brown tells Radar, will have "no ideological stance" and will be edited by Edward Felsenthal, the former deputy managing editor of the Wall Street Journal who is currently a consultant at Portfolio. (We hear that two business editors at the New York Times were also contacted about jobs, but didn't bite.) Brown declined to offer specifics on either a launch date or about what, exactly, the site hopes to accomplish, saying only that it would be "a new take on an aggregator website."

The news comes on the heels of a New York Times report that the Huffington Post, a lefty news aggregator and blogging vessel for various celebrities, celebrity offspring, and the college roommates of celebrity offspring, is worth a staggering $200 million. Arianna Huffington, the site's namesake and founder, is a close friend of Brown's. (The two even kind of look the same!) Brown, however, stresses that her site will not be a direct HuffPo competitor.

Brown's decision to partner with 65-year-old Diller comes at a critical juncture for IAC. Though the aging Internet titan recently won a protracted legal battle against Liberty Media Corp's John Malone for control over IAC, the company's value has declined from $22 billion to just over $7 billion in five years. Many of IAC's recent high-profile Web ventures, including the search engine Ask, political humor site 23/6, and FiLife, have fizzled. It remains to be seen whether Brown's "new take" on news aggregation will be enough to right the ship.

Will it be like the DrudgeReport.com or TheTruthPursuit.com?

Sweet, this stupid story has been up for more than 9 hours and I am the 3rd person to stumble upon it (by accident). Not sure I I missed JohnDeere.com or whogivesashit.com - either way - this story sucks~

Sounds like Jules (like Arianna before her) is suffering from a chronic case of Drudge envy. Someone needs to tell her this little stunt still won't get her noticed.

What can Brown do for you is funny, doubt she got it, though.

Yoko loves Tina!!

Whatever warteetee--nice name, btw, hot!--yeah, it's such an inconsequential story when a billionaire--however closeted and so-far-unsuccessful with the web--picks one of publishing's most storied editors to go up against two of the internet's largest sites, one just valued at 200 million.

Guess you were more thrilled with Montag backing McCain, loser.

And look, I'm usually the first to yawn at maglomania "scoops" but this and Newsweek firing 100 staffers are both certainly news. So go grow your warts!

MSM is dead. They censor and lie. After all, censorship is becoming America's favorite past-time. The US gov't (and their corporate friends), already detain protesters, ban books like "America Deceived" from Amazon and shut down Ron Paul. Free Speech forever.

You're not alone! I'd love to join up with a non-partisan news-oriented aggregation site. Here is a sample of my news aggregating:

Aggregating news is aggrevating. Rolled news is old news, ps. While we decide whether Paris is burning (or itching), www.screenmancer.tv/intro.htm is ready for Diller time.

Aggravating, that is... (see www.screenmancer.tv/intro.htm above) where's Tina Brown when you need an editor for your post?
