Scientology Test Drives Girl to Suicide?

cruise_030408_FRESH.jpg
STRESS-FREE Cruise
Most people realize that the Scientology "stress tests" and e-meters run by eerily placid recruiters on subway platforms are pretty much made of tin cans, chicken wire, and a few AA batteries. So the Norwegian tabloid Verdens Gang's story about the 20-year-old daughter of a Norwegian member of Parliament killing herself after getting an "extremely bad result" from an e-meter is even more bizarre. Details are sketchy—the story doesn't say how she offed herself or present any credible evidence that the test and the suicide were linked. It does note that she got the result back "a few hours" before she was found dead. The Scientology angle didn't even come into play until weeks after the death, when her family found the completed test, poor score and all, in her room (she lived not a fjord's distance from the Church).

We're gonna go out on a limb and say there's more to this story than has thus far been reported—pinning the suicide solely on the back of a meaningless test is a stretch, particularly for someone who hadn't yet totally immersed herself in the Scientology dogma. But when Tom Cruise is your public face, people can't be blamed for jumping to conclusions.

Comments

I'd like to mention that the victim's father does not wish to discuss this issue right now -- it must be a very stressful time for him and his family, and it's best for Anonymous and anyone who is critical to the CoS to understand this as it is for them, the loss of their girl. Now is not a time to protest -- it is to mourn.

This story is going to hurt, especially in the wake of the story on April 12 where the Belgium police raided Scientology's operation there and shut it down.

There are lots of suicides and strange deaths (such as Lisa McPherson) associated with this cult, but this is the fastest one on record.

This is certainly not the first time Scientology has driven people to suicide. Jeremy Blake and Theresa Duncan were harangued by Scientologists for daring to help Beck when he took the first steps in leaving Scientology.

Scientologists are trained to give new people ("raw meat" in their Scieno-speak) a bad result no matter what the result of their personality test. They then offer Scientology courses and auditing as the way to "handle" these faked problems. This poor Norwegian girl was probably already on shaky ground and the Scienos probably told her she was a mess. The suicide as a result of the bad personality test is indeed possible when you add the ingredient of the Scienos playing up her bad score into a "she desperately needs auditing" scenario in order to $ell her.

On another note, back in February a Scientology critic, Shawn Lonsdale was found dead of an "apparent suicide" It is strange that so many Scientology critics wind up dead or in horrible legal lawsuits. WHEN are we going to
1. revoke the tax exempt status of this MONEY MAKING CON
2. Prosecute these people for their crimes
How long will we allow an evil cult to hide behind the word "religion"?
