Our Sham Debates May Be Even Shammier Than We Thought!

  • Nash McCabe, the "ordinary voter" who asked if Barack Obama "believes in the flag" during Wednesday's debate, turns out to be a little less ordinary than originally assumed: She was the subject of a Times article two weeks ago in which she asked, "How can I vote for a president who won't wear a flag pin?" This is apparently some kind of huge scandal, according to the folks at Talking Points Memo, who are concerned that picking an ordinary citizen with a predisclosed bias to ask a question might violate the integrity of the ludicrously scripted dog-and-pony shows American television debate format. Which, we all can agree, would be a real tragedy.

And, yes, I am aware that "shammier" is not a word.

The irony of the whole stupid pin controversy is that it perfectly illustrates Obama's point of bitter working class people focusing on non-issues.

Being the better person, he has a intellectual, compassionate line of reasoning for why this is, whereas I keep flashing on this scene from Blazing Saddles.

Let me make one thing very clear to all Americans:
Just because you have a flag that doesn't make you more American!
The fact that the American public is taking issue with this is.... beyond stupid, there are so many more important issues and if your letting this flag thing take up space in your head you need a lobotomy and quick! I' am truly sick of this flag waving way of thinking. Be proud to be a American, but please don't be blind.

I seriously wish someone would take a flag pin and jam it into this woman's left eye. WHO F$#%&*@ CARES?! How about we talk about something important, like oh... I don't know.... THE IRAQI WAR??????????????
