Chick Flicks For Dicks

WHEN HARRY BECOMES SALLY Nora Ephron
Important memo for all lady-types obsessed with puppies, babies, and "meet cute" moments in sappy Nora Ephron movies: chick flicks are entering a new golden age. And they're no longer just for chicks!

We know, you're probably already totally foaming at the mouth at the thought of "getting Carried Away" by the new Sex and the City movie this spring with your favorite guy's guy, but lucky for you that's not all you have to keep your soul alight this year! Also coming 'round the bend are Confessions of a Shopaholic and Julia & Julia, totally awesome movies for girls who like shopping and boys and, in the case of the latter, cooking. Shocking and awe-inspiring, right?

The only curious thing about this crazy new phenomenon, if indeed it can be called that, is that the people making these movies hate the fact that their masterpieces are considered "chick flicks," because that moniker is apparently racist or something. Instead, they're hoping that boys will see these movies too, and not just because they want to get laid after spending $45 on popcorn and Sour Patch Kids.

Jerry Bruckheimer, who co-produced Confessions of a Shopaholic, says the film is also for guys, because "We all have spending habits, a lot of us do." He goes on to promise that the movie could be as awesome and dude-luring as Wedding Crashers. A producer for Julia & Julia also wants men and "everyone who likes eating" to see his film, even though it stars Amy Adams and Meryl Streep and is about, you know, girls and cooking.

So cross your fingers for those valiant, metrosexual producers and hope that their movies are smash hits with the massive male demographic who'd like nothing more than cuddling up to watch Atonement or The Devil Wears Prada with a big box of chocolates. Wherever they are.
