Holding on to a high-profile Hollywood boyfriend is hard enough, but for Jude Law’s quirky gal pal Sienna Miller, holding on to a high-profile role has proved harder. Months after she won a plum part as tragic Warhol Superstar Edie Sedgwick in George Hickenlooper's ballyhooed Factory Girl, the bohemian Brit was devastated to learn that she was being relieved of her duties. Producer Richard Galub had originally packaged the movie around Miller, telling friends that the starlet was born to play the speed-addled original "It" girl. But as Law’s star waned in the wake of back-to-back flops, and the couple's relationship seemed to fizzle, sources say Galub's ardor for the actress cooled as well. Pressed to explain Miller's abrupt departure, Holly Wiersma, Galub's coproducer, cited scheduling problems. "Sienna's doing As You Like It in London, and there's a conflict," she said. "We went back and forth with her, but it didn't work out." Despite Miller's dismissal, however, the flick is still on track, with a "well-known American actress" (whose identity Wiersma declined to disclose) set to replace Miller in the role. "Sienna's a great girl, but we've found someone else who's going to do a great job too," Wiersma added brightly. Miller's publicist confirms that the actress is returning to a theater gig in London but insists that Miller never officially signed on to the Edie movie. UPDATE: The "well-known American actress" is Katie Holmes, reports WWD's Suzy (sub. req'd).
