Back in March when he delivered his speech on race, Barack Obama had this to say about his controversial pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright: "He contains within him the contradictions—the good and the bad—of the community that he has served diligently for so many years. I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother..."
But, you know, business is business, and after yesterday's National Press Club nightmare you do what you have to do. Expect plenty of jokes about how first Obama threw his grandmother under a bus and now he's throwing his pastor under a bus. But, as we saw in the Samantha Power incident, once you're hurting the campaign, you're out. Who might Obama disown next? It's too soon to tell. But watch your back, black community: he's all out of pastors and grandmas.
