Baby Mama Premiere: Night of 1,000 Stars, Dead Baby Jokes

The Tina Fey-Amy Poehler flick Baby Mama came kicking and screaming into the Ziegfeld Theater in Manhattan Wednesday, for the opening of the annual Tribeca Film Festival. And the event had attendant comedians waxing nostalgic about youth and babies and life and death.

Tina Fey's 30 Rock colleague comic Judah Friedlander took time to weigh in on his child-watching prowess—and its consequences. "Sure, I babysat. I got fired, though. I think it was because I started hooking up with the mom, and also ... two of the kids died. But the dad thought I was cool and he learned a lot of moves from me."

One of the night's centers of attention, Baby Mama co-star Poehler kept her focus upbeat, telling reporters, "I always bring a real classy attitude to a premiere. I wish I could say something interesting. I have my lucky husband tonight! I have a few, but I always bring my lucky one." That "lucky husband" is, of course, Will Arnett, who was in great spirits as he worked the room at the Museum of Modern Art after-party, hanging with his comic pals Jason Sudeikis and Baby Mama cast member Dax Shepard.

The scene was medley of SNL generations past and present: Steve Martin (who has a role in the flick), Chevy Chase, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, Rachel Dratch, Jimmy Fallon, and even SNL top dog Lorne Michaels all took to the carpet, melding in Robert DeNiro, Sigourney Weaver, and Indy race car winner Danica Patrick.

In the end, though, it was current SNL-er Fred Armisen who took it home with more baby talk: "I once babysat for about 200 kids. The huge problem was I wasn't aware I was supposed to be responsible for them. Sadly, none of them lived."
