Governor Beverly Perdue—you may remember her as one of the targets of that controversial ad John McCain asked the state G.O.P. to withdraw—has received an important endorsement in her campaign to move up to the Tar Heel State's top job: Andy Griffith has come out in support of her candidacy. You may only remember him as the titular character of old people favorite Matlock, but Griffith is the closest thing Carolinians have to a living god.
