Model Liz Hurley, who in spite of her failure to launch a viable acting career is said to be worth around $26 million dollars, has been accused of paying her London maid a paltry $2.40 an hour. The British minimum wage is the equivalent of around $10.10 an hour. The woman in question, Violet D'Souza, came from India to work for Hurley and her husband, Indian tycoon Arun Nayar, as a cleaner and a babysitter, and was paid the paltry sum in rupees rather than in pounds. D'Souza made the claims after she was fired by Hurley following a disagreement, and a legal hearing on the matter was set for tomorrow. That is, until Hurley and Nayar paid their domestic a hefty five figure sum so that she'd drop the case. Sadly, D'Souza is currently unemployed, though we hear Naomi Campbell is always hiring.
