< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Bitter Valentine for Runway's P
KLUM ON FEEL THE NOISE Heidi She got the ax—and so close to Valentine's day! It also seemed odd given that this week's challenge was a sort of Trojan horse, simultaneously allowing designers to create their ideal outfit while threatening to auf their asses if their designs blew chunks. The Metropolitan Museum of Art got a reach-around from the producers this week as the final five viewed three exhibits that were supposed to inspire them. The result? Sweet P fashioned a simple commercial dress. Rami draped until he could drape no more. Chris went the musical theater costume route. Jillian offered a stiff yet wearable garment. And Christian finished an awesome design early and spent the rest of his time mocking the straggling contestants. Christian won the challenge with his sartorial interpretation of The Mask of Zorro, guaranteeing himself a spot in the finale while Jillian displayed but a whiff of talent with her gold dress and (yet another) dominatrix looking jacket. It's surprising that the judges lapped it up, seeing as how they railed against Rami for his incessant draping and against Chris for making a couture collar like he did in a previous challenge. (Who doesn't know you can't pull the couture collar card more than once a season?) Ultimately, it was guest judge Roberto Cavalli who brought some much needed real talk— he called out Rami and Sweet P as boring, all but ensuring Sweet P's sad, inevitable ouster. Rami, on the other hand, was saved because the judges were in a "deadlock." So he and Chris were told that they'd be competing before Fashion Week to determine who makes it to the top three. Never mind the fact that the final four gets to show up anyway to Fashion Week just to keep the identity of the final three a secret. Kind of makes the exercise of axing Rami or Chris pointless. The producers must agree—next week's episode is a reunion show. Sadly, the concept doesn't do as well with bitchy designers as it does for the skanks on Flavor of Love. But who knows? Maybe someone will poop on the floor. The airing date of this episode was after fashion week, so all five designers showed a collection, Sweet P included.
