< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Natalie Cole Hates On Amy Winehouse
THAT'S COLE-D Cole, Winehouse (inset) (Photo: Getty Images) • Back to work: Michelle Williams was filming in Soho today, just three Manhattan blocks from where her ex-fiance Heath Ledger OD'd on prescription drugs. • Deserted in the desert: A letter from Al Qaeda leaders show signs of stress among its jihadist soldiers. This comes on the same day that six men are charged in connection with 9/11. • Cantankerous Castro: Cuban leader Fidel Castro says Republican candidate John McCain's comments about "a couple of Cubans" torturing McCain's fellow captives during the Vietnam War are "unethical." McCain politely states that to respond to Castro would be beneath him. • Zen and the art of orgasm-cycle maintenance: You had us at "orgasm orchestra." Proving once again that you rock my sift.... Posted by: taj on February 11, 2008 9:03 PM I am psychiatrist and you are music. You should talk about music. If she is talented has to win.Psychological problems do not give grammy.Be honest with you yourself and do not mix the things. Posted by: Meg_Ohhhh on February 12, 2008 8:56 AM Advertisement Natalie Cole is NOT hating on Amy Winehouse. And she is long past any riding of coattails left by her legendary father after a more than 30+ year career. She has been winning Grammies since the 1970s (including her own 7 Grammy sweep in the early 90s with the Unforgettable album) so it is stupid to say that about her at this point in her career. Also, I'm sure most Radar readers aren't fans and probably don't follow her career (as evidenced by the "coattail" remark), but Natalie Cole has written and talked extensively of her past experiences with drugs over the years - and it is mentioned in the People article where she was quoted. She even talked about her drug problem getting so out of hand that her mother took over her all of her affairs (business, bank accounts, etc. ) She's been where Amy is and then some, so I think she knows of what she speaks. If anything, someone needs to put them in touch... Posted by: Nichelle on February 12, 2008 1:29 PM Amy is talented. That does not make her superhuman and not prone to addictions or bad choices - society needs to separate the two. Amy did not win five grammys for being a model citizen - she won them because she is talented. Natalie knows how hard it is to break addictions - both she AND her father suffered from the same illness. If the academy only awarded performers who were talented AND had squeaky clean backgrounds, then the show would be 20 min long, if that. I think Natalie's comments were in poor taste, reeked of jealousy, and indicative of a female performer well past her prime. Posted by: Siouxzan on February 12, 2008 2:17 PM |
