Clinton Campaign: "Here's Who Else We Stole From"

HillaryClintonfresh.jpg
Hillary Clinton has learned an unfortunate lesson about making overly general accusations about plagiarism: Once you define the category as broadly as the Clinton campaign has, you leave yourself open to similar charges. Last night's debate with Barack Obama proved to be a case in point: What were initially viewed as conciliatory, healing remarks by Clinton about the primary campaign—"You know, whatever happens, we're going to be fine."—were immediately pounced upon by the Obama campaign as proof that the senator from New York was just as likely to rip off someone else's rhetoric as their own candidate (John Edwards said something similar back in December). Hillary's people struck back, noting that it was a common expression and that there were at least 12 other famous people Hillary plagiarized the phrase from. Or wait, maybe that's not what they were trying to say. Either way, it's a good thing that both of the Democratic candidates can engage in a debate on the real, substantive issues facing Americans today.

Hillary has really moved yoko in recent months, at 61, I guess she has a shot at 69. She could end up being a lefty thatcher type, but it looks like the K.O is coming down for now. But don't rule out the superdelegates! And it's not comparable to the popular vote/electoral college dichotomy. Political parties are private entities and as such are allowed to...yoko is tired of trying to spur life onto the comment boards, it would take much time and energy to give a poli sci 101 course right now and yoko doesn't have it. If anyone lets themselves be fooled by the media's dumb analysis of super, er, automatic delegates, then they should lose their right to vote.

I like Obama, but if he were a student in my composition class, he would have a lot of explaining to do right now. If your buddy lets you borrow, you still need to acknowledge the source. NOW ... Having read Alice Walker's 2006 book, I assumed that Barack provides an attribution when he uses her title verbatim? ... (yes, Walker is quoting from a poem by June Jordan but she gives credit in print on the very first page!)
"WE ARE THE CHANGE WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR" (go to Amazon.com, We Are the Change...)
I know everyone's exhausted, but honest attribution DOES matter. Please guys, no more shortcuts; no more cheap shots. You're both WAY too smart for this!

Yoko: I've been checking out ALL the comment sections and couldn't fail to notice your efforts. To be honest, my first thought was..."what's up with this weirdo and the phony affections in speech patterns?". My second thought was that you come off as some kind of mentally ill tranny that I probably don't want to engage in the comment section (check out archives of Taylor Hicks articles for "why"). Sorry.

Having just read your post above, I realize that my first impression may be incorrect. Lose the alter-ego and be yourself sweetie. I think the real you is more interesting.

MetaRae: ALL of the candidates have their own room full of speech writers. Do they ever credit them at the beginning or end of every speech they make ? No.
Referencing copyrighted material or parts of another's public speech is one thing. Latching on to a phrase that your friend said you could use is another.

BTW: I'm from Mass. I voted for Patrick. Hated/did not vote for Romney (as Mass Governour). I refuse to vote for a female presidential candidate just because she's a woman. After 8 years of Dub'ya I going to vote for the one I think is "least evil". For me , that's Obama. If the superdelegates say it's Hillary, then I'll probably vote for her in protest against the Republicans
