Renfro, Even in Death, Not on the List

As fans of Apt Pupil no doubt noticed on last night's Oscar broadcast, that film's star, Brad Renfro, was snubbed during the tear-jerky montage of actors who'd died from February 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008. Heath Ledger, on the other hand, was honored in the final, applause-garnering slot.

"Unfortunately, we can't fit everyone in," an Oscars spokesperson explained to Radar adding, a bit inexplicably, that Renfro died before there was time to include him in the editing. But Renfro died of an accidental heroin overdose on Jan. 15, one week before the Jan. 22 death of Heath Ledger, also from an accidental overdose. Was it the heroin thing?

"There's no specific reason," the spokesperson tells Radar. "Unfortunately, he was edited out."

Comments

Maybe they could have lost one of their other stupid montages, or those ridiculous 'When Harry Met Sally' flashback chats, and freed up a few seconds for Renfro. Just a thought.
